Hello everybody,
yesterday was a quit relaxing feast day. I have done a lot for school, baked a delicious german apple pie and saw the wonderful kitschy movie "Julie & Julia". Maybe some of you know it, it's about Julie Powell, a young woman who's unlucky with her job and decides to write a blog about cooking 524 recipes out of the cookbook from Julia Child to motivate herself and document her progress. Simultaneously the viewer gets told the story of Julia Child's cooking career and how her cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" comes into being.
While watching this movie I was amazed about the power the two ladies emanate and which huge support they get from their husbands and I really like the charm of it.
Those of you, who like to know more about the plot and the characters, can watch the
Trailer of this unusual comedy-drama and I promise you'll get hungry!
So for now, I have only one recipe for you and this is for the super-simple apple pie I backed today:
1.) Take 4 thick apples, cut them into little cubes and steam them with apple juice and cinnamon.
2.) For the pastry: Mix 250g (0,55 lbs) flour, 125g (0,275 lbs) margarine or butter, 100g (0,22 lbs) sugar, one egg, two teaspoons of backing powder and one pack of vanilla sugar and put it in a greased springform baking tin.
3.) For the crumbles: Mix 200g (0,44 lbs) flour, 100g (0,22 lbs) margarine or butter, 100g (0,22 lbs) sugar, one pack of vanilla sugar and a bit of cinnamon (with your hands).
4.) Put the steamed apples into the springform pan and spread the crumbles above.
5.) Do it all in the baking oven with 175°C (347°F) for around 70 minutes and be curious ;)
Finally, I have some pictures from my cake for you.
Hope you had a great day and enjoyed Halloween!
